Meet the Team
Mark Wilson
A graduate of Jesuit High School and Trinity University, Mark began his insurance career working for Allied Insurance, part of a Fortune 100 insurance company. Transitioning to an independent agency, he became a commercial lines account executive. After spending the next 12 years as an agent and operations manager for a local boutique broker, Mark launched Obsidian Insurance in 2018.
Mark is involved in all aspects of client services and agency operations. Mark is a licensed Property & Casualty agent, consultant, and Surplus Line agent. In addition, Mark has earned the prestigious CPCU designation.
Currently, Mark serves as President for the Surplus Line Association of Oregon, the SLI-PAC Board of Directors, and is a former Chairman for the Jesuit High School Golf Tournament benefiting the Food Drive. For Mark, the favorite part of his job is learning about a variety of companies and working to incorporate insurance into the complete business model. In his free time, Mark enjoys a great assortment of outdoor activities including golf, hiking, and turf grass management.
Taylor Burton
Taylor is a native Oregonian who has been in the Portland area for more than ten years. She started her working career as an executive assistant in a personal injury law office where she gained valuable experience helping people and gaining a unique perspective on the importance of maintaining proper insurance coverage. She joined Obsidian Insurance in February 2018. Taylor is passionate about continuing her education within the insurance field.
As a graduate of Oregon State University, Taylor is a member of the Alumni Association and a football season ticket holder. She is also a season ticket holder of Broadway in Portland. Taylor spends her free time with her young family, enjoying exploring all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
